The history of Etnia Barcelona dates back to the 1950s when Fulgencio Ramo created his first glasses factory. His children learned from him and continued the business. However, it was in 2001, after three generations of glasses manufacturers, that his grandson David Pallicer created the firm.
With the founding of Etnia Barcelona, Pallicer gave the brand a new twist: he brought colour to a product that until then had only been brown or black. Today, colour is the element that characterises Etnia Barcelona sunglasses and prescription glasses .
Their designs feature mosaics of color and patterns that you won't find in any other brand. They are also inspired by the diversity of cultures and the freedom of artistic expression.
Pallicer sought to create a brand that would foster respect and humanity towards all ethnicities, hence the name Etnia Barcelona. The Spanish city also served as a source of inspiration for her: a city open to the world, full of art and colour.
