Measure your pupillary distance (PD) from home

Pupillary distance is one of the measurements we use to correctly centre your prescription lenses. If it's not on your prescription, you can easily measure it during the lens selection process.

What PD is

A small measurement with an important job

PD, or pupillary distance, is the distance between the centres of your pupils. It helps us position the optical centre of each lens correctly in front of your eyes.

Why do we ask for it?

Because correct centring helps ensure your prescription lines up with your gaze and delivers comfortable, precise vision. For Oakley lenses, the brand's own technical documentation also states that centring must follow interpupillary distance and fitting height.

Take off your glasses and find good light

Stand in a well-lit area and, if possible, in front of a plain background. This helps the camera see your face more clearly.

Look straight at the camera

Hold the device facing you and centre your face. Avoid tilting your head or looking to one side during the capture.

Have a standard-sized card handy

The tool may ask for a card similar in size to a bank card as a scale reference. Follow the on-screen instructions exactly and don't show any sensitive information.

Important: you don't need to know your PD before you start choosing your lenses. If your prescription doesn't include this measurement, you'll be able to access the measuring app right inside the lens process.

What does PD mean?

PD stands for pupillary distance: the distance between the centres of the pupils. It's used to help correctly centre prescription lenses within the frame.

What if my prescription doesn't include my PD?

No problem. During the lens process you'll have an app available to measure it by following the camera's instructions.

Do I need to download an app?

We don't treat measuring as a separate step: the tool is built directly into the lens selection process. When you reach the relevant step, you can use it if you need to get your PD.

Can I enter a PD I already know?

Yes. If your optician has already given you your pupillary distance, use the value shown on your prescription or professional measurement.

Is PD important for progressive lenses?

Yes. Centring is especially important when a lens needs to position different vision zones relative to your eyes. Always follow the measurement fields requested during configuration.

What happens after I measure it?

Once the measurement is complete, you can continue configuring your lenses and finish your order following the usual steps.
